Anyways,, today’s post is gna be smtg a lil diff. Before everything slips off my already compressed memory its bttr if i pour some of it out here.
To those not familiar to this, my sis got married last week!! Lol yep yep jaspreet aka jesi aka jaggu aka pink panther aka the tom boy or whatever u may call her finally got married to an awesome guy aka my current brother in law. The best part abt him is tat usually when it comes to food, he calls me out instead of asking my sister! So he’s like my lets-go-out-and-eat-partner without having to worry abt anything very blessed, no?
Sometimes when people ask me hey u’ve got all 4 sisters. No brothers? I kinda look back and smile thanking the Guru Maharaj for giving me such out of the world brother in laws that somehow feel more like brothers than i can ever imagine. I mean ive never tawt tat i’d ever be able to cry/do my silly dance and do nythign tat i usually do confined to family space due to unwanted judgement in front of them. So yep,, i feel really blessed alright :)
Anyways the reason im writing this is to enlighten to those who are yet to experience a marriage of their sibling or their own on the hidden obvious ignored side of the process of getting married.
1. Getting married is not cheap.
Owh dear don’t get me started on this one! From catering to clothes to jewellery to photography to booking the place to make up and all the super hidden costs,, its reli not as cheap as what we imagined it to be! Which reli explains why some people opt to go for the drive through marriage services we have overseas cause its such a cost saver! And being in a family that follows traditions is no big help either cause there wr many things that we cud’ve just ignored but i had to see the green notes literally fly out due to it. Daym :S
To overcome this : No way out on this one fren. The one things everyone revolves around yet can’t find a way to overcome is this.
2. Some relatives/people/friends are just a pain.
I know i know imagining it is shitty enuff but heyy seriously depending on some of your relatives/frens screams DISASTERS all over! Cause u never know if they’re of any sincere help or if they will be there in the first place. What most of em are gud for is to give orders and mess things up. Owh and not to mention to try their level best to appear in almost ALL the photographs :)
u see its funny how u hardly see their nasal apertures around unless its time for a snapshot, they suddenly appear out of nowhere. Its very magical i tell you. No kid* lol
3. The groom wakes up early to greet his bride of baby blues eyes from afar,,,
Blaaahhh
The bride NEVER sleeps!! Literally never! Eventho u may put a whole big singborad out of her room saying shut the fcuk up and stay out,, she’s trying to bloody sleep,, they somehow NEVER understand! Imagine waking her up after nearly every ten mins asking her dumb shitty quest which can wait till the next day or worse still,, don’t let her leave the dance floor for hours till she can barely feel her feet. Daymm..and yep,, if You are the bride to be and even if u have considerate people around, u still cant expect to have the sleep you want. You’ll have to wake up reli early to start the dressing up routine and what not.
4. The ones you depend on will disappoint you and the ones who were the outcast are the actual super savior!
It speaks for itself. No explaining needed.
5. Your first dance is not as scary as it may seem.
For my sis the only one time they ever danced with one another was during their engagement after party. So her wedding night was actually the 2nd time they danced together. For all you know they did not even know what song they were going to dance to till a few minutes before they hit the dance floor! So for all those blessed with the clumsy feet, don’t worry about it! Somehow or rather your moves will compliment your beau movements. No one said it has to be MAGICAL,, just as long as the both of you have fun ( and not trip on the dance floor of cos)
6. You can never decide when the party should end.
The only hitch in the whole thing was that some things got delayed. Both side were really hyped up about everything that some of em may have gotten carried away ignoring the ticking clock. With clear liquor and cloudy eyes, they still refuse to leave saying it was too early to say goodnight. Hmm.>
7. I don’t know the route to success but i do know the one to failure : trying to please everybody.
Which is something you should be constantly reminded when youre at a wedding. No matter how much you try,, you cant shut some people’s mouth. Especially when its usually the relatives/close frens that somehow go on searching for the micromistakes that they can make out of any situation. As for those lifeless creatures, God bless you all :) i cant believe that you were present in my life circle cause you were a pain, you still are and i still loathe you wholeheartedly. Your condemning nature is really a trait you might wanna look back at.
8. Which reminds me,, that you should have the ability to ignore.
Yep yep. If you’re born wif it then praise the Lord!! If not,, its high time u might wna consider taking it up. I know its nt supposed to be smtg youre proud of but heyy at every function there are certain things and people and orders that you’ll have to ignore and just trust your own instincts on doing things. Not everyone out there knows whats best or wat the situation is like. The best is to be aware of who you’ll be getting orders from cause at that very moment,, almost everyone will try to make everything seem important. It all comes down to you to make that decision on to listen or to ignore.
9. Whatever happens,, get yourself a good photographer!!
No matter what the odds are,, never NEVER compromise and who you’re gna chose to be the photographer for your blessed day. having the right skill and price is one thing, its the understanding and willingness to compromise and help out at some crappy situation that made this guy stand out! He may have been complimented a million times regarding his God blessed talent but what i admire most in him was him being humble and friendly yet so modest! My stand out salute to him! Such an amazing amazing guy! *continues to admire*
p.s. anyone looking for any photographer out thre try asking him! Tho im guessing u may need to ermm book early or smtg..
10. lastly,, the UNWRITTEN remedy to all this : the experience itself : ) you’ll learn so much that perhaps when the 2nd time comes around,, it’ll be an easier deal.
As for me.,,i watched the wedding pulled up its own stage and another amazing experience faded right before me. I sincerely thank all those who stood by us helping out to make the whole thing work out beautifully. From the bottom floor, as i saw them laughing up there together. For a brief moment I stood still amidst the celebration mode in gratefulness to Him for making all this happen.
I always looked at marriage as smtg reli out of the world ( the whole process actually) its smtg so full of fear and happiness and sadness and hope and faith and arggh dammit its so full of emotions! Tats the only day where you will really look like how you feel and that you find yourself praying for Not only your dreams to be assured.
So there you have it,, my sister wedding in a brief post. (i mean to go longer but my eyelids reflexes are going on shutdown)
Feel free to comment if you have bttr suggestions for nything.. I’m all eyes :)
Signing off : the unwrittenindeh.
